Dance Dance Revoultion: Auroa Primary's Special Machine

Thank you for our visit, we are on a mini-break at the moment - we are back to our regular publishing schedule next week, in the meantime we've been revisiting some of our most favourite Auroa Primary School related technology, project and special events.

If there's one piece of technology that we love to highlight which always produces amazement its our full sized DDR Machine! Create by Mr Bloor and the students of our school its a piece of technology that we're constantly adding to! Our students make the music videos media for the machine.   We also hold regular competitions for our students such as last years 'K-Pop Demon Hunters Special'

We've also live streamed the competition which involves our students competing against each other and a range of competitors.  You can view one of our amazing events here.  As always we need to acknowledge Mr Bloor and Sonic Vision Studios and his fantastic work - you can click on the link to his page here.

Celebrating Sonic Vision Studios!

While this sight is on a hiatus and currently not active, although just for a week - we thought that we'd continue to publish some of the amazing work of Mr Bloor and his Sonic Vision studios.  This staff member if the person responsible for much of the incredible media associated with Auroa Primary School.

Our major event is in preparation as we speak - we highlighted the 2020 School Drive in movie but that was only our first instalment - following the success of 2020 version we repeated it again in 2023!

This movie was made with the school and showcased Mr Bloors amazing talents.   In addition to this we had a viewing at the school, on a massive screen on a truck, for the entire community.

And last but not least there is the entire movie masterpiece! If you would like to contact Mr Bloor about the project or any of the specifics that go into his work, please drop us a line and we can put you in touch with him.

Auroa School Drive in Movie - 2020 Review

Thank you for your visit - we are currently 'offsite' at the NZAIMS Sporting Tournament in Tauranga, New Zealand competing in the Girls Basketball Tournament - and now playing in the Top Eight Competition (which as we have two classes of Y7/8 students is some achievement).  You can view the Auroa School Website here.

We are a school that is lucky to have some amazing teachers and our students have fantastic access to technology! An example of how we combine the two is our famous Drive in Move Nights, where the community comes and sees Mr Bloor, our amazing technicians creative masterpieces.

As we speak Mr Bloor is working on a sequel with the students and staff to his epic movie - 'The Fast and the Furious - Undercover Student.  We can't reveal too much, except to say the hero/villain from the original has managed to escape from confinement and is seeking to right a wrong from the first movie! This musical is going to be an amazing event and is scheduled for a 2027 release! We can't wait to share updates and a sneak peak with you, in the meantime you can view the original masterpiece below:

Auroa Primary - Apple Distinguished School Renewal

The work of the students (and sometimes the staff) from our wonderful rural Primary School in Auroa, South Taranaki, New Zealand are very lucky to be a 1:1 iPad School (with Mac Books for the older students).

We've also an Apple Distinguished School - and we were very excited to recently have our status renewed for another three years.    This is a huge deal for our school as it allows us to share our learning within that community and network with our schools.    You can see our application video below - thank you to Mr Bloor and Sonic Vision Studios again for this outstanding visionary work, it is as always so much appreciated.

A reminder that we are also running a Facebook Page - the purpose of this page is to post additional media related to this site that sometimes doesn't fit the format (it is mainly additional photographs) you can click on the link to this page (which is #NZ

Dance Dance Revoultion Expansion

Available to our students are all sorts of wonderful technology opportunities - one of our favourite resources which the students are able to use and is always popular is our full sized DDR (Dance Dance Revoultion) Step-Master machine.  This is a key resource at our school.  Not only did Mr Bloor make an amazing video and had an incredible project when it was made.  You can click on the link and see the creation of it here.

We have also had incredibly live-streamed competitions using this machine including our K-Pop Demon Hunters Special or our regular super challenge!

This week there has been an incredibly exciting update - Mr Bloor has doubled the size of the machine! No longer is it just a two player battle now it has been increased to four!

You can see the additional pads in the photo on the left and they are already proving to be hugely popular with our students (who are able to dance at lunchtimes).

You can see Mr Bloor has added something else to the machine as well - the bars at the back for even more crazy moves!

Don't forget this is not just an amazing piece of hardware for our students - we also create our own music videos which we then use in the competition where the students create, plan and then make their own music videos examples of which you can see by clicking on the link here.

We are so lucky to have Mr Bloor at Auroa Primary School as many of the projects that he works on at our school and with our students are 'passion projects' that he goes above and beyond the call of duty to work on.

Laser Cut Talent Quest Props: Bus

Recently Auroa Primary School held it school Talent Quest.   You can visit Mr Bloors Youtube page for the links and media from our school here.

We had a special event and part of it was presented to our local community Mr Bloor our amazing AV technician, creator and broadcaster and decided to use the same technology that we used to livestream our recent 2026 Virtual Pinball Competition.

Words cannot express how important to our school - if you haven't seen his amazing page you should and visit it or look at some of his creative highlights including the full movie productions that he has been involved in.

This bus shown here in profile and side view was created by one of our amazing teachers, Mr Spice.  This bus was used for one of our acts for the talent quest.

It was created by using our large scale laser cutter.   The bus outline was cut from a silhouette that was found online.   It was then cut out from corrugated cardboard, the kind used for real estate signs.

You can view the video of the school talent quest live streaming below.  If you have any questions regarding any of Mr Bloor's amazing work ranging from his Pinball, his full scale movies his dance machine amazing spectacular events and the list goes on.

As we speak Mr Bloor is preparing for his next amazing school event - more details of which are to come at a later point, but it is a sequel to his amazing 'Fast and the Furious' movie.

We also had the amazing Mr Bloor, whose must see Youtube channel is here use his creativity to produce a range of prizes for the students, from miniature versions of the competition pinball table to working pinball tables and a range of amazing items.

These were mentioned several times during the livestream and our champions were very spoilt!

Technology Masterclass: Multi-Layered Staff Prize

One of the amazing things about being at Auroa Primary School is the wonderful students (of course) but we have some amazing staff.   This is something that can inspire and sometimes intimidate.

We have responsibility once a year to provide something for a staff prize - this masterclass was Mr Bloors latest piece of brilliance.

It combines the three major pieces of technology that we have available to staff (and students at Auroa Primary School.   This box has been produced primarily with the school laser cutter.   After the box was cut it has been put together with hinges that were created using the 3D Printer.   Additional touches were then provided by creating handles for the end of the box.

Finally the details on the box were created by using the sticker machine to create the decals which were then applied to the box.   As the theme of the box was the Never Ending Story a group of designs of creatures and items from the movie were printed and then added to the design.

This is a masterpiece of work combining three different technology together to produce something that is outstanding.

You can view Mr Bloor amazing work via his Youtube page here or this page via Facebook.

Virtual Pinball at Auroa Primary School

Its tournament time at Auroa Primary School! Its the 2026 Auroa Primary School in association with Sonic Vision Studios - Virtual Pinball Competition.

We previously revealed our entrants for 2026 in Mr Bloors amazing video that we posted on this blog and you can view via his amazing Youtube page here.

The students are starting to practise, practise, practise as only some of the teams are going to make it through to our grand final!

You will be able to follow that here and will be posting additional updates and also a video shortly of some of the practise.

The table itself is a copy of a 1908s Classic Pinball Table called 'Tag Team' from 1985.   While we have maintained the playfield as it is a virtual table we have replaced the images with those of the students from Auroa Primary School as shown left, so students are now the bonuses and the images on our own virtual pinball table!

This machine is now sitting proudly in the hall of our school as is a second slightly smaller machine that allows the students to
play the table in preparation!

Excitement is building as we move towards the first competition of Auroa School Virtual Pinball for 2026!

Auroa School Virtual Pinball Tournament Announcement

Later today we are making a huge announcement for our students - one of the biggest events of the year is coming as we are bringing back our virtual pinball competition.    With that in mind until the official announcement is made later today here's some of the highlights from our work over the past few years, starting with the very first Virtual Pinball Grand Final from seven years ago!

Credit for this amazing production needs to go to Mr Bloor our amazing AV Teacher. You can view his amazing channel here.

The following year we retuned with our first movie tie in - Mr Bloor created an entire movie, featuring our students and staff (and our school!) and we had a special showing of this big event.

This is our Grand Final from the Second year of competition, commentary provided by Mr Bloor and Mr Webb.

We then had our third competition held the year after - this was based around another school movie - The Fast and the Furious: Undercover Student!   This became our Drive in Move Night Movie - which was an amazing community event: as shown below.

This led directly to the movie, the drive in movie and then the Pinball Machine, game and competition shown below:

2025: Goodbye from 3D Print School

The Year in Review: Sonic Vision Studio Movies

Its nearly the end of the year in New Zealand and the end of the 2025 School Year has occurred.  We are back in February 2026.

There are some projects happening in the background.  One example of this is our amazing AV teacher, Mr Bloor who is currently working on preproduction for another one of his fantastic movies.

These movies are major events for our school involving a cast of students and staff and amazing work from Sonic Video Studios.   You can click on the link to Youtube page here.

When the movie is completed we will be having another Drive in Movie Night were we have the community come to our school.   You can see the 2023 Drive in Movie highlights here:

There are two amazingly epic videos that Mr Bloor has now included on his youtube page.   They are huge events and a fantastic amount of work, we are so proud of our wonderful Mr Bloor.   The first is 'The Fast and the Furious: Undercover Student' - this was the Drive in Movie from 2021.  This was created as a family movie for our local school community.

The second epic move is the 2023 'Ella vs. The Space Invaders' from 2023.   This was another huge effort from the staff and students at Auroa Primary School and a great event for the local community.  It is designed to be for students from five to thirteen years of age and was the movie presented to our community at the 2023 Drive in Movie Night!

If you would like anymore details about the production, creation and event involved in this movie please drop us a line and we can assist you or put you in contact with Mr Bloor.

2025 - Year in Review: Stepmaster + Livestream

There have been a number of school projects this year that have involved technology and the students of Auroa Primary School.

Credit for this amazing work needs to go to our incredible teacher Jason Bloor who has an entire Youtube channel of his amazing work which you can click on the link here.

This post is focussed on the school Step Master machine and the technology that is associated with it.  The first starting point is the video is the creation of the Stepmaster video.   This video is a explanation of the process behind the making of the machine itself.

You can click on this videos here in the thumbnail.   A number of our students were involved in the making of this machine and we used technology such as our laser cutter, sticker machine and 3D printers to complete the build. This is the machines Promo Video:

This machine is an ongoing piece of technology at our school.  While the machine itself was built over five years ago the media for the machine continues to be updated with additional media (songs) which are recorded by the students and the accompanying video.   This is the dedicated video explaining its construction:

Finally we also use the machine, and the media that the students have made as part of the progress and the event when we have a livestream.   This year at Auroa Primary School we had two - a regular competition featuring the different student categories which we broadcast live to our community

Once this had been completed we held a second event during the year that was themed around a very popular series of media, music and movie - K Pop Demon Hunters with another livestream.  You can view the video for this livestream below:

As we have stated at the start of this post this work is primarily the work of the amazing Mr Bloor from Auroa Primary School.  If you have any questions or queries about this epic work please send us an email at myles.webb@gmail.com and we can put you directly in contact with him.

Special Event: DDR Dance Machine K-Pop Special

Having just held another school event - our DDR/Step Master Machine Livestream of K-Pop Demon Hunters we wanted to share the details and explain how the tech that we have at our school is used for this event.

The livestream and the videos are located at Mr Bloors Youtube Channel, this has everything including his amazing video that details the building of the Step Master Machine.

This video is located here and his Youtube page is located here.     The school laser cutter and Roland Versa sign maker were both used extensively in the creation of this machine.    For the purposes of the broadcast you can also see the filming rig.

As explained in a previous post on this blog we used the school laser cutter to create these MDF blocks which were 130mm square.

The blocks then had applied to them a sticker from the Versa studio sign maker.   This was made up of the poster that had been produced for the event which then in turn created a puzzle for the students to solve which became one of the challenges in the video.

You can click on this link to see the portion of the video that first used the blocks in the form of the puzzle.   The second challenge involving the blocks was the tower stacking challenge that can be viewed by clicking on the link here.
To produce something special for the students who won the competition these clickers were produced.   The clickers were sourced from a commercial location and are equivalent of a fidget toy.

The unique aspect of the design was the fact that the Bambu H2D Printer was used to produce the top that made something unique to celebrate the event for the students.

The template for this was provided online and was personalised for this event.

Student who won the competition were rewarded by receiving the clicker as shown above and also given a sheet of stickers from the event that were themed around the 'K-Pop Demon Hunters Show/Movie.

These designs were located online and were made available for the students.

The stickers were printed on the Roland Studios Versa Signmaker.

The paddles that were given to each of competitors to wave and support their team.   These were produced by using the school laser cutter and the labels for each of the paddle was produced by using the Roland Versa sign maker.

Credit for the design and work on this post needs to be given for the amazing Mr Jason Bloor (Sonic Vision Studios).   You can click on the link to his amazing Youtube page here.

School Event: Dance Machine Student Challenge

Next Monday here at Auroa Primary School we have our next major technology event - another Dance Machine Challenge this one as shown on the poster left.   We will be live streaming this event (via Youtube) and broadcasting it to the school and community.

This involves using our Step Master Dance Machine which was a significant school project when it was built - you can view the construction, behind the scenes video here.

In addition to the machine we add media to the machine each year in the form of music videos which are created by the students which are then used in the competitions, such as examples like 'The Golf Guys - The Golf Masters'

We hold yearly competitions for the students using the machine you can click on the link to view this years live stream or click on this link to see last years competition.

We will post additional details about this competition (including the link) as we get closer to the event.   If you would like to view the media associated with our school from our amazing Mr Bloor you can click on the link to his Youtube page here.
