Pet Day 2026 is Nearly Here!
This is when our students are able to bring pets to school and show their Lamb, Calves and other animals off in the best possible way. This year we are also working hard on our art displays in the classroom and of course in Room Seven we are using our AR/VR skills and our design work such as our Tin Can Design that are also including a 3D Printed insect. We have also been using Tinkercad and its AR/VR ability to ensure that we are creating, prototyping and working on our CAD design skills with out students.
Want to see what Pet Day is like at our school in New Zealand - well of course we have the amazing Mr Bloor and his videos such as our 2024 Pet Day Video which you can view by clicking on it here.
We also have some examples, work and great things to share. Today in class we had a little time to work on our Tin Can Art Displays and also decided to look at using Tinkercad and its AR/VR features to have some fun.
Each photo on this page has a Tin Can theme but also has something that is not present in the actual scene as our students have AR/VR it into place. In the very first photo it is the butterfly, in the second photo, immediately to the your left you can view the ladybird, but this is the 3D Print that we featured last week, so it is not present at all!
Later on we will be presenting another edition of 'Tinkercadhunt' when we use the Pet Day backgrounds as a project location.
There's also last years video from Mr Bloor below which you can watch with our students showing off some of their skills in art and animal care and responsibility! Can't wait until Thursday!

Celebrating our NZAIMS Success: Virtuall Pinball
Recently our Girls Basketball team returned from the 2026 NZAIMS Games Tournament - where our school managed to place fourth in the entire country!
To celebrate this success Mr Bloor had a special release for our students, a virtual pinball table that is modelled on the players from the team!
This was a lovely touch, where one of our schools amazing Digital pinball tables was adapted to feature the students from our school (the game itself is a modified version of an NBA Pinball game).
Already this year we had another of our famous live streamed virtual Pinball Competitions - where our students competed in teams against each other to determine a tag team champion!'
We are very lucky to have this sort of amazing technology available to our students - you can view this years livestream finals here.
Or if you want to see a spectacular why not watch our 'Fast and Furious Grand Final! This was a competition from five long years ago and is going to be a sequel to the movie for our next drive in!

Dance Dance Revoultion Expansion
Available to our students are all sorts of wonderful technology opportunities - one of our favourite resources which the students are able to use and is always popular is our full sized DDR (Dance Dance Revoultion) Step-Master machine. This is a key resource at our school. Not only did Mr Bloor make an amazing video and had an incredible project when it was made. You can click on the link and see the creation of it here.
We have also had incredibly live-streamed competitions using this machine including our K-Pop Demon Hunters Special or our regular super challenge!
This week there has been an incredibly exciting update - Mr Bloor has doubled the size of the machine! No longer is it just a two player battle now it has been increased to four!
You can see the additional pads in the photo on the left and they are already proving to be hugely popular with our students (who are able to dance at lunchtimes).
You can see Mr Bloor has added something else to the machine as well - the bars at the back for even more crazy moves!Don't forget this is not just an amazing piece of hardware for our students - we also create our own music videos which we then use in the competition where the students create, plan and then make their own music videos examples of which you can see by clicking on the link here.
We are so lucky to have Mr Bloor at Auroa Primary School as many of the projects that he works on at our school and with our students are 'passion projects' that he goes above and beyond the call of duty to work on.

3D Printed Pinball Prizes
Yesterday we celebrated the Smurfs win in the first 'tag team' Pinball tournament battle held here at Auroa School. If you missed the livestream of this event you can locate it by clicking on the link here.
We also had the amazing Mr Bloor, whose must see Youtube channel is here use his creativity to produce a range of prizes for the students, from miniature versions of the competition pinball table to working pinball tables and a range of amazing items.
These were mentioned several times during the livestream and our champions were very spoilt!
If you wish to have further information about his amazing work please drop us a line and we can put you in contact with him

Technology Masterclass: Multi-Layered Staff Prize
One of the amazing things about being at Auroa Primary School is the wonderful students (of course) but we have some amazing staff. This is something that can inspire and sometimes intimidate.
We have responsibility once a year to provide something for a staff prize - this masterclass was Mr Bloors latest piece of brilliance.
It combines the three major pieces of technology that we have available to staff (and students at Auroa Primary School. This box has been produced primarily with the school laser cutter. After the box was cut it has been put together with hinges that were created using the 3D Printer. Additional touches were then provided by creating handles for the end of the box.
Finally the details on the box were created by using the sticker machine to create the decals which were then applied to the box. As the theme of the box was the Never Ending Story a group of designs of creatures and items from the movie were printed and then added to the design. This is a masterpiece of work combining three different technology together to produce something that is outstanding.
You can view Mr Bloor amazing work via his Youtube page here or this page via Facebook.
