Sticker Machine Exemplars

We are very fortunate to have a Roland - Versa Studio Sign Maker BN-20 for our students to work with and be engaged with for technology.

Students are able to use this machine for technology projects and creating resources to help with their learning and around school.    We have used this extensively as part of our school Market Day, which it was used to create labels for the student led businesses and it is also part of our school DPE days.  Our DPE days are our Design, Production and Engineering where we have students spending one day a week immersed in technology to help them produce something.   Examples of this in the current rotation are the students using this machine to produce labels that can be put on mugs, identification/naming of clothing items or full sized t-shirt transfers.   You can see examples of this on this blog by using the 'search' bar on the right hand side of this blog.

You can click on this link to see examples of how we created labels or packaging for the students Market Day businesses at our most recent Market Day in 2023.

We have used it to create decals for machines that are high use at our school such as the tilt tables, pinball machines and full sized dance machines.

There are additional projects which this machine has been used in, you can view these by using the search tool bar on this blog and using the keyword 'sticker'.

Student used the sign maker to create a board game, which was based around Basketball.  The sign maker was used to produce the decal for the court because it was hard wearing and would allow a game to be played but there to be no damage to the surface of the board.

The sticker maker is able to have stickers which can be applied to plastic and remain in place - in this instance on this sports team water bottle.

This is proven to be an excellent way to identify school water bottles for school events and allowed also for the personalisation of the water bottles (with perhaps an idea further for students to have a label of their own name on it).

One of the clear advantages of using the resources/hardware in this case is being able to apply the decal/stickers/media to resources that otherwise might not be used.

In this case a empty paint container, which has obviously a sheen/surface that is relatively difficult to glue onto.

By applying a transparent media to the container it has now a clear purpose, which in this case is being able to collect food scraps for the school worm farm.

Each year our school holds a series of school events including Movie Nights, Dinners, Pet and Calf Day Events and School Galas.

During these events we are looking for opportunities with signage and using our technology.  An example of this is shown when we have used the Versa Sign Machine to make vinyl stickers for events such as this.

The machine allows us to create durable signs that we then back onto corflute to provide some stability.   As it is printed as a large vinyl sticker it is essentially waterproof and can be used again and again for events rather than being produced as a one off.
